The Rat Race
I know what you’re thinking… oh god another story about rats. Is she going to talk about the infamous Ratatouille movie, and its odd, yet accurate portrayal of being low income?
Or, is she going to talk about the rat crisis occurring in “beautiful” New York City. Oh my god. Maybe, its going to be about the new rat disease…
P.s. there is none, I’m making this up.
What if I told you, there are these rats that roam around every college campus. It’s seemingly invisible to the naked eye, and only once in a blue moon will a college student be lucky enough to see one. They’re a new breed; one that resembles us — smiling at others in the halls and bathrooms…
These rats are us. Yes, you and I.
No one tells you that in college, life feels like a rat race. Everyone is trying to grab a piece from the cheddar wheel. There is no doubt about it; everyone wants to be the best.
Colleges tells us to be a well rounded student who can contribute to the community, but fails to understand that the ability to do so, is a luxury. Why help others, when you can barely sustain yourself? It seems quite harsh that I am speaking in this manner, but you and I know that in order to survive — to keep our heads above the ever increasing waters, we must fight for our own air.
Maybe you don’t like the rat race analogy. I don’t either… even after writing it. I would like to say and express that this doesn’t represent me. I jump out of bed and head out the doors, with the belief that no man or woman should be behind.
And even though, I said I wasn’t going to talk about some Disney rat movie. Here I am, ending this blog like the way I started it.
Life can only exist when you share a piece of cheddar.
P.s I like mozzarella.
